Bart Ehram

Bart Ehrman is an American biblical scholar, historian, and author specializing in the study of the New Testament, early Christianity, and the historical Jesus. As a former evangelical Christian who later became an agnostic, Ehrman is known for his critical examination of biblical texts, exploring how they were written, transmitted, and altered over centuries. His scholarly work challenges traditional views on biblical inerrancy and the authorship of the scriptures, shedding light on textual discrepancies and historical context.

Ehrman has written numerous bestselling books, including Misquoting Jesus, Jesus, Interrupted, and How Jesus Became God, which make complex theological and historical discussions accessible to a general audience. He is also a professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he has taught for decades. His research often sparks debate between secular scholars and religious believers, as he critically examines the historical foundations of Christianity while maintaining a respectful approach to religious traditions.
